Dinakaran is a Tamil daily newspaper published by the Sun Group, owners of the Sun TV Network, Sun Direct DTH and the Indian Premier League Cricket Franchisee, Sunrisers Hyderabad. The newspaper was originally launched by a DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) party politician, K. P. Kandasamy. In 2005, Kandasamy’s son K. P. K. Kumaran, sold the paper to the Sun Group. Dinakaran today, is published by Kal Publications Private Limited which is part of the Sun Group. Kal Publications is wholly owned by Sun Group’s Chairman, Kalanithi Maran and his wife, Kavery Kalanithi.
